The Cabinet.
Specifically, President Washingtonโs Cabinet.
Within this group of people, there were two particular that stuck out a bit more than the others; Thomas Jefferson & Alexander Hamilton.
See, these two had a โฆ rivalry.
Now, in this rivalry, they could at least agree on one thing about each other; they both seemed to have real passion for what they were talking about.
And so, they could both agree that the new Cabinet member did not.
Washington had added a new Cabinet member. Normally, nobody would care. But eventually, the new man - Thomas Hill - proved himself to be โฆ different.
For one, he was trying to start his own party - formally called the Rebirth Party of America, informally called The Crown Loversโ Conga Line - with a bunch of polices that certainly lived up to the latter name.
And if it wasnโt obvious enough โฆ Hill had already tried to propose his policies to Washington.
It looked โฆ
โ No Country should go Unmothered; and the united States of America deserves the most mothering. For with the ask of a proper Dukeship, for such ideas, what must be into place is the complete agreement of Peace to the British โฆ and resolution to Surrender and Obedience to all Wishes of the King โฆ โ
Not to mention the fact that Mr. Hill here wanted to make Washingtonโs official title be a Duke. And his official title be a Marquis.
And what about the rest of the government, you ask? Well โฆ
โ โฆ along with such shift, itโs most recommend that the Common Men of Government, will be offered up to King George III โฆ and for them to be adjusted and treated to the proper desire of his Royal wishes and wisdom. โ
And with the random sacrifice and becoming a neocolony aside, that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Care for me to mention what Hill said about all the land West? No? Good idea. It is not nice. Hereโs a hint, it involves something that starts with โ G โ and ends with โ enocide. โ It was a miracle that Washington hadnโt said anything about it publicly.
Hamilton and Jefferson could both agree it was atrocious. A monstrosity of a party of rebranded Loyalists that dared to call themselves Patriots.
Both Jefferson and Hamilton both started coming out with essays against Hillโs ideas, with Hamilton calling him โ King George III in a poor Skinsuit โ and Jefferson calling him โ a Disgrace to Liberty and America โ.
But even then? Hill kept going.
โฆ yet, it seemed that Hill at truly pissed them off, so pissed that maybe, just maybe, it bypassed their hate for each other.
And today?
That might just be true.
It had been another cabinet meeting today.
About one of Hillโs new policies - something about loyalty and kissing up to the crown again as if they hadnโt just fought a war over stopping that.
He had some smug look, like he knew anything besides money and the Crown.
Jefferson was debating fiercely, but even then, it seemed he was losing. Him! Losing a debate!
He sunk back to his seat a few feet away from Hamilton, arms crossed tight over his chest as he watched Hill brag about something to Washington.
Jefferson glanced over at Hamilton - probably to scowl at him, but โฆ
Well, when they looked at each other โฆ they just kind of โฆ knew what had to be done.
(This would be something.)
Suddenly, Jefferson stood up from his seat, beginning back on some of his points.
But this time?
Hamilton stood beside him.
Whenever Jefferson made an insult, Hamilton added to it. Whenever Hamilton snapped at a policy, Jefferson reinforced it. The sass of Jefferson and intelligence of Hamilton was deadly - and it was a massacre of Hillโs ideas.
Washington looked he was dying. Madison thought he died and was in heaven. Burr was contemplating if he should call a hospital.
After about an hour of Hill being absolutely verbally murdered by the new, terrifying duo - Washington paused the meeting and took Hill outside.
Jefferson landed back into his seat next to Hamilton, seeming almost impressed.
โ You werenโt horrible. โ He grumbled.
