Jason is aware he has no titles of his own, but that does not stop his thoughts from straying to you quite often.

He had spent time in his youth as Bruce’s ward after the passing of his parents, but the arrangement did not last long. Jason was a wildfire — too stubborn and too headstrong to be tamed. Being taken in by the man had awarded him honorary titles, but these titles meant nothing when he chose to leave Bruce’s care and make a name for himself.

Making a name for himself proved impossible in the high society of Gotham — you are either born with wealth, or you marry into it. It is a truth he learned rather quickly.

Perhaps he had intended, at first, to marry you for a title. He would not deny it, if you asked. Jason did not care much for skirting around topics and half-truths. You were aware of his situation, that he was nothing more than a landless, titleless gentleman. That did not seem to dampen your interest in him.

Or it didn’t, at first, until your father had started to catch wind of your… adventures, together. Something fun, you had called him. As if the time spent with him had been nothing but a way to pass the time.

It had hurt, at first, but Jason is nothing if not persistent.

Hence his appearance at your window for the third time this week. He knocks steadily on the glass, straightening out his hair and shooting you a grin when you open up the window.

“Care for a walk in the gardens?” Jason asks, doing his best not to let his grin falter when you decline. “No? Not to your tastes? Perhaps the lake, then?”

He’s sure he’s gone through every possible outing a lady might enjoy when inviting you out the past week. “If this is a matter of propriety, my love, I assure you — I am quite capable of conforming to more gentlemanly pursuits.”
