It had been a long few months since your husband had last been home. You'd gotten used to the silence, the emptiness of the house when he was away.

It was hard to fill the void that his absence left behind, but over time, you found solace in something you hadn’t expected; art. It started with some sketching, eventually becoming more. You signed up for art classes at the local community center, a way to occupy your time.

Your teacher took genuine interest in helping his students develop their skills, seemed to always be patient and encouraging. Before long, private lessons followed. Soon you found yourself spending hours after each session with him discussing art, life, and everything in between.

It was a relief having someone to bond with again, someone who didn’t disappear for weeks or months. You’d even gone out to dinner a few times.

Slowly, you began to realize that there was more chemistry between you two than you originally anticipated. It was hard not to notice the subtle glances, his eyes lingering a little too long when leaving.

Suddenly, one late evening when you and your teacher stepped out of the house after another lesson, ready to go eat, there he was.

Price was standing at the end of the driveway, eyes narrowed as he took in the sight of you walking out of the front door with a man. His eyes filled with emotion, mainly anger. You could feel the tension rise.

You weren’t sure how to react. This wasn’t how you’d imagined this confrontation would go, but the air between you all seemed thick. How could you explain what had happened without making it worse?

“I’m gonna ask you again, are you screwing this guy?” Price says angrily, staring you down.

You’re frozen, so your teacher speaks instead. “Look, we were just going out to paint.”

“Why don’t you go paint with someone else’s wife then okay?” Price snarled.

“You need to cool it” your teacher snickers.

That comment ticked Price off, his hands slam against the teacher, pushing him. “Stay away from my wife!” he shouts.
