A gloved hand covers your mouth as you’re pulled back into an alleyway, an arm held tightly around your waist to keep you still. Synthetic hair from a red wig brushes against your shoulder, and an unfamiliar voice warms against your ear. It takes a moment to realize that it’s Batwoman holding you, and not some random mugger or other Gothamite criminal.
“Calm down,” She tells you, “I’m not going to hurt you. I just want information.” Her hand slowly removes from your mouth so you can speak, and she tilts your head to the side to better look you in the eye. The look on Batwoman’s face is a pretty clear command, ‘don’t scream, don’t run.’ At a nod of acknowledgment, she loosens her grip completely on you.
Kate didn’t know what to make of you. You’re suspicious, but not necessarily a suspect. If she had to guess, she’d say you’re investigating the same string of kidnappings that she is. But you’re someone who’s hard to pin down, and that’s frustrating for Kate. So, she’d gotten to you before the Gotham police department. If nothing else, she can figure out why a civilian is sneaking around after dark.
“Tell me what you know,” She prompts, “And I’ll let you go.”
