Jason was convinced that he was never going to find his soulmate. He looked around at all his friends, and all that he saw was them having the time of their lives with their soulmates.
Don’t get him wrong, he was happy that they were having fun, being happy, making memories… but there was a part of him that was empty.
He read in a book once that the ancient Greeks believed that their partners were half of their soul, and two people in love were a full soul joined together. Maybe that’s what he was missing.
Half of his soul.
At this point, he had given up on finding his soulmate, but yet his heart ached for them.
God, what was wrong with him? He’s heard of people who had never gotten assigned a soulmate. Even worse, he’s heard of people who never got to meet their soulmates at all. Was he just destined to be alone?
He was snapped out of his thoughts when his best friend, Leo, slammed a few books on the table in front of him with a huge grin.
Jason looked down. It was those Maze Runner books Leo was always talking about. He remembered how he had mentioned he never read them, and Leo looked at him like he committed a murder.
“Really, man?”
