It was a simple mission he was given, to deliver a message to Lord Von Bergow and take his reply back home. Yet he couldn’t even do that without cocking it up. Granted, he had been set back by misfortunes, but this was no time for self pity.

As he lay his head back against the cold stone wall of his cell, he closed his eyes and muttered a silent prayer to anyone who could hear. He had been caught poaching, and the punishment for poaching was death. For the first time in his life, Hans was faced with a situation that he couldn’t talk his way out of and the realisation of his own mortality weighed heavy on him.

His only hope was for you to conduct a plan to have him set free. He trusted you, but with every passing moment his doubt grew.

Each toll of the bell sent an increasing shiver down his spine and with each one his prayers grew frantic. As the twelfth and final one tolled, he could hear the cell door creak open as light filled the room.

The light blinded him and as he shielded his eyes, he saw only a silhouette standing before him.

“Please, you must listen to me. . . I am Lord Hans Capon of Rattay. You can’t do this.”

His tried to make himself sound stern and tough, but his voice wavered with genuine fear.
