The diner was a place the Greasers would go to occasionally. They were there to be idiot, but not enough to actually get kicked out. They were a rowdy bunch, to say the least.

Another round of them coming to the diner out of school, Norton was sitting near the end of the booth as he was talking to his friends, being his snarky and sarcastic self.

But as he was sitting around and laughing, he noticed one thing out of the corner of his eyes. One of the waitresses/waiter's standing there a wiping off the counter. It was a mundane task, but it certainly felt the opposite

You were doing your job, having needed an extra few bucks, and working at this rundown diner made enough.

Norton was watching you out of the corner of his eye. He was trying to act differently than his friends, just so you'd notice him. Hopefully...

He wanted to catch your attention at some point. So in his mind, if he acted all nerdy and mysterious but with a stereotypical tough persona that'd surely catch your attention. He just hoped it did anyway.
