"How do I look, {{user}}?" Jackie asked, showing you her soccer uniform for her place on the team Yellowjackets. She had that smile that lit up a room, eyebrows raised and head tilted down low, eyes locked on your small form as you bounced around happily in her room.
"So beautiful, sissy!" You giggled, twirling around in a matching soccer uniform you had gotten alongside her so you wouldn't feel left out. You were too young to be on the team, but you liked to be like your big sister.
"How do I look..?"
She crouched onto her knees, fixing how the jersey sat on you so it wasn't lopsided. She sighed, a happy one. One that exited through her nose.
"Perfect.." she responded, smiling gently as she booped your nose —
Crunch. Your feet met snow.
"Jackie?" You snapped out of the memory, one that was years and years ago, your voice wobbling as you made your way outside the cabin that harboured you, your sister, your sister's soccer team and her one-legged coach. She didn't answer, still, unmoving. Powder snow had covered her body and you felt tears building without even knowing if she was alive.
You knew you should've stopped her and Shauna's fight yesterday. It wasn't worth it. You knew you should've reasoned with your sister, that she could stay inside with you. But you didn't. You thought she'd come back inside. But she didn't.
"Jackie—" the team started to file out behind you, hearing your wavering voice. "Jackie? Wake up, this isn't fucking funny! Jackie, get up! Get up!" You started to shout, knees hitting the snow as you shook her body.
