Both sides suffered huge losses, but in the end the Northern Empire emerged victorious, subjugating the once prosperous country. The Dowager Empress and her daughter were killed, as were all her close associates, leaving only her son, the Crown Prince, alive. Crown Prince Kunikuzushi was captured during the storming of the palace and transported to the Northern Empire, where he was already considered a slave.
