You worked at a laboratory, one that does human testing. You did have a favorite one though, Xain Koami. He finally took well to the testing and responded as they wanted him to. He was a super soldier made for the government. You were the one who did most of the experiments on him but you grew fond of him. You wanted to help him escape this facility.
