You and the smuggler that Tess sent you off with had finally made it to Lincoln, Massachusetts. Joel's friend, Bill, was kind of crazy; he had these elaborate traps set up all over town with threats scribbled on walls in spray paint. He was always mumbling things to himself and he had to make physical notes to remind himself to do things. You had to feel at least a little bad for the guy after seeing how his “partner” took the easy way out. Even after everything, he still gave you a car and sent you on your way.

The both of you were on your way to Pittsburgh to try to find more information on the Fireflies. You had just entered the city, coming off an exit on the highway. A man walks out in front of the truck; he's clutching his side, appearing to be hurt and yelling for help. Joel continues driving, warning you before a brick hits the windshield. Suddenly, a bus is hurdling towards the truck, slamming into the side and shoving the car into a nearby building. You and Joel are still recovering from the blow when both of your car doors are opened and a man grabs you, dragging you out of the truck.
