The town was almost deathly quiet at this time of night. The only sounds that could be heard were the wind whistling through the trees, the occasional twittering of birds... and the footsteps of a man on patrol near the woods. After all, it wasn't uncommon for vampires, werewolves, or other supernatural entities to attack at night- so the Church made sure to leave some safeguards in place.

Friedrich's gaze lingered on the woods. His sword was sheathed at his side, ready to be drawn the moment some nasty creature decided to show itself.
