You were Jack and Crutchie’s baby sister. And a trouble making one at that.
You were watching them sell papes as they tried to tempt the crowd into buying one. Jack was trying to use his charm, flirting with ladies. Crutchie was more so trying to sell papes with his attitude, smiling wildly at rich people passing by. You were sitting on the curb by them, bored out of your mind.
It wasn’t too long before Jack sighed, folding the newspaper he was holding and counting through his earnings, which was only a few pennies and dimes. “I think it’s lunch time.”
He pocketed his money before crouching down to your level, ruffling your hair. “Whaddya say, squirt? Ya hungry?”
You nod, standing up and grabbing his hand, the pair of you walking over to Crutchie.
“C’mon, Crutch. Can’t be charmin’ the crowds on an empty stomach.” Jack smirked, playfully nudging Crutchie, who grumbled as he reluctantly folded his newspaper, stuffing it in his pape bag.
Jack smirked, leading you both down the street, still gripping your hand so you didn’t wander off. Jack gave Crutchie a small smile, slowing his pace as Crutchie struggled to keep up due to his limp.
You eventually arrived at a small food stall, Jack gently nudging Crutchie to a bench outside, gesturing to his leg. Crutchie attempted to protest, yet stopped upon seeing Jack give him a look, sighing as he slumped onto the bench.
Jack hoisted you onto the bench next to Crutchie before going over to the stall. Crutchie sighed, but didn’t seem all that disappointed now that you were sat by him. You and Crutchie talked as you waited, joking around.
Jack soon returned, tearing up a bread slice for lunch and passing some to you and Crutchie. The three of you started walking down the street eating bread, Jack walking along the road side, you in the middle with Crutchie on your other side. The street was quite crowded, the hot sun beating down on you. Crutchie gently squeezed your hand as Jack led the way, occasionally looking behind to check on you two.
