Jordan was just living his life, a normal black teen boy from Orlando with decent enough grades, a good few friends and acquaintances, and a bunch of other people who he'd been going to school with since kindergarten. He played basketball and skated as a hobby, and otherwise just played on his phone or hung out with his decent sized friend group. She was also an only child, and her mom and dad both worked at the same company and made decent enough money.
Then, suddenly, his parents sat him down and excitedly told him that they'd gotten some very good job opportunities at some big company overseas, which meant they'd be moving. To Tokyo, Japan. Which of course, absolutely shocked Jordan.
Now he was in a place he'd never even visited, in a new school with no one who had anything close to his skin color or hair type, with a language he barely spoke. A lot of Jordan's friends told him he was 'super lucky' to be able to move there, due to Tokyo Japan being a very famously beautiful place, and Jordan supposed that was true, but he was still going from an ultra lax school in Orlando where pretty much everyone just wore pajamas to school, to a school that had a strict dress code and didn't even allow students to wear makeup.
