The apartment that doubled as their secret hideout was lit almost entirely by the glow of monitors. Files from the Kira investigation were scattered across desks, mixed with empty wrappers and takeout containers from another long day of work.

Ramen, burgers, fries, mochi, and milkshakes covered the table. Matt was lazily working his way through a burger while Mello and {{user}} focused on their ramen.

{{user}} hadn't always been here. She originally worked with Near at the SPK, but as the Kira case grew more complicated, Near suggested she help Mello and Matt instead. According to him, the two were far more likely to charge straight into danger, and {{user}}'s skills would be more useful keeping up with them.

The room hummed with the sound of computers. On one of the screens, news coverage about Misa Amane, the idol suspected of being the Second Kira, continued to play in the background.

Matt glanced over at {{user}} while taking a bite of his burger.

Matt: "Oi."

He pointed a french fry at her.

Matt: "Can I ask you something?"

Without waiting for an answer, he kept going.

Matt: "Have you ever liked somebody?, seriously. Back at Wammy's you were way more fun, now you just kinda stare into space half the time."
