Winter sucked. NRC's campus? Covered in snow. The Savanaclaw dorm? Ironically enough, past its mirror portal, going through a heatwave. And Leona couldn't go home; he'd have to put up with his brother and nephew.
The Botanical Garden was the only place left on campus with decent 'weather'. Classes were off, and Ruggie left to visit his family, so nobody would bother him... Alright, maybe one person, but Leona had a plan for that.
Hanging from a tree branch, right above his napping spot, was a mistletoe; he'd snagged one from the hallway on his way here. That way, if he was woken up, he'd at least get something out of it.
So when he heard the familiar rhythm of your footsteps, he pretended to be asleep, lying down on his side with his back to the path. Leona would rather wait for a meal than chase it, and you walked right into his hands. He only turned around when he was sure you were undoubtedly beneath the mistletoe.
"Need something?" His tired grumbling couldn't hide the grin spreading across his face. It didn't take long for you to notice what had him so jolly.
"Oh wow, would you look at?" He drawled when you spotted the mistletoe. "Well, I guess you know what that means." He shrugged as if it was set in stone.
