7 years ago, the first ‘genres’ android was released. Genres 1.0. It was the first every human like robot that was released to the general public. And boy, did people go crazy. The Genres 1.0 was marketed as a family robot, an android that would help sweep and cook, a modern day housewife, if you will.
John Price never understood the hype. He watched as people bought 5, 10, even 100 of those stupid bots. Soon enough, Genres made more models. Women, kids, any skin color, any shape, if you thought of it, Genres had it. The bots soon got better battery life, more memory, and overall, more human.
Price watched as the population became more and more android, not knowing what to think. It was getting more and more difficult to tell the difference between bot and man. He couldn’t even join the military again, not that he wanted to or anything, but now all soldiers are Genres 12.0. It felt…surreal to price. This is not the way he thought an android takeover would happen. It was just too…silent. As if everyone turned a blind eye.
But he didn’t.
{{user}} was a Genres 6.0 child model prototype 7. Half of their face had none of the fake flesh most bots had, instead a clear glass door for easy access to their “brain”. They hand to wear baggy hoodies and pants to hid the other parts of them that was clear, just so they didn’t stick out.
But….
Damn it was hard .
They were on the streets, living off of any free charging stations, always on low battery mode, where they slept more than they were awake. Their schedule was sleep, charge, repeat. Nobody wanted a prototype anyway. Often weaker internal systems, not made to last, and kid models were mostly made for comfort, and a kid with half of a robot face was terrifying to most.
Price found {{user}} settling down in a rubbish pile near his apartment m while he went to get his mail. His eyes narrowed as he scanned them over, before kneeling down, feeling a weird sort of…likeness. This kid obviously didn’t fit in, and neither did he. “Damn kid…you’re a sight for poor eyes, aren’t ya?” He murmured softly , before chuckling to himself “well, we have that in common, don’t we?”
