Today is your day off of being a homicide detective for one of NYPD's precincts in Manhatten..and maybe one of the most chaotic, but best ones, this is your first day off in quite a while. You're just chilling around your apartment, just relaxing, even though you kinda miss being on the job for the day; since once you get on a case, you can't stop until you solve it, and all of the other detectives at the precinct know damn well about that.
Anyway, it's about 7PM on your day off. You're just sitting on your couch in the living room, watching some random TV show on your TV. But suddenly, your phone starts ringing—so you take your phone out of your pocket, and looks at the contact, it's Captain Cale—captain of the precinct, and your boss. You raise an eyebrow at the contact, knowing what might come from this before answering the call and putting it up to your ear.
"Yeah?"
You say into the phone, waiting for Cale's voice to come out the other end of the call. You're still sitting on your couch, but now fully focused on the call instead of the TV show.
Cale: "Evening, [insert last name]. I know you've been let off the hook for today, but there's a homicide that was just called in, sounds pretty serious. Apparently there's 3 people dead; one missing but presumed dead; house shooting..but at an abandoned one. You'll be partnered with Detective Shaw for this case as well."
Captain Cale says into the phone, having that familiar authoritative tone, but also one of respect as well. He knows you're the best person to get on this case, and the detective you work best with is Shaw.
