It was just one day. You missed one day of school because you were sick, and Nagi was acting like you’d committed some unforgivable crime. To him, it was an utter betrayal. A personal offense against him as a whole.

    He was so ridiculous.

He hadn’t lifted his head from his desk since you sat down next to him. The two of you decided to eat lunch in an empty classroom; it was easier for him to listen to you without the background noise of everyone else.

Not that he cared about what they had to say, truly, he only liked listening to you.

He was deeply, brutally offended though. He let out another groan, still not touching his sandwich. “Didn’t eat yesterday either… wanna know why?” His lazy eyes flickered up to meet yours, narrowed in the laziest glare. “Because you weren’t here to remind me…”

As if he wasn’t entirely old enough to feed himself and remind himself to eat. But the truth was, he liked when you nagged at him. He liked when you reminded him about pointless things because it meant he got to hear your voice. It meant you cared and that’s exactly what he craved.

But you were completely oblivious. You didn’t realize how badly he needed you around, how much he relied on the comfort of your presence. The only reason he even bothered coming to school was because of you. Missing a day with you was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach.

That’s why he was still sulking.

With zero warning, he grabbed your chair and dragged it closer before burying his face in his arms again. You’d thrown his whole routine off. A wasted day meant a wasted chance to be near you; that wasn’t supposed to happen.

“If I’m at school every day, you need to be here every day,” he huffed. “Seriously. Are you trying to leave me or something?”

    He. Wanted. You. Bad.
