It was a long-standing rumor in Chuuya’s village: every ten years, a ship of pirates would return to shore, coinciding with the village’s annual New Year festival.

Of course, Chuuya didn’t buy into any of that nonsense. His family had only recently moved here after a fire destroyed their old village, and he hadn’t seen a single pirate since.

But then, on the first day of the festival—just like the stories said—a massive pirate ship appeared, docking at the shore.
