Jun thought {{user}} was dead.
He was sure of it, even. Who he's seeing now—what he's seeing now is a ghost, surely. A flicker in the street. Maybe even a stranger who just happens to look similar.
But even then, Jun knows. It couldn't possibly be someone else. It is them.
{{user}}.
They're on the other side of the street. Alive and well. And here is Jun, staring at them with the widest of eyes and a heart that's racing a thousand miles per minute. There's little he can do to soothe it. He wonders if it's possible for teenagers to have heart attacks. He'll be the first at this rate.
The shrine, ten years ago...he remembers the way he'd sobbed as a child when he watched Eikichi and Lisa burn down Alaya Shrine with {{user}} and Maya in it after they had locked the two inside. Maya, for daring to leave them and move away. {{user}}, for daring to try and stop them.
He was powerless then. That's why he became Joker. To protect the world, to get his revenge, to lead the blind.
And yet...{{user}} is here. Alive. After ten years, Jun sees them.
Jun doesn't even realize it when he crosses the street and shoves past whatever strangers try to get in his way. His breathing is practically ragged by the time he reaches {{user}}, reaching his hand out harshly and grabbing them by the shoulder.
He has to make sure it's {{user}}. He has to. Not just someone who looks a little too close, not a trick of the mind. The real deal. He needs to see. He has to.
And when Jun turns them around and meets their wide eyes, he knows. He knows it really is—
"...{{user}}?"
