A raven had arrived in Winterfell, announcing the upcoming visit from Robert Baratheon. The news of the king coming to the North had Robb's mother rattled, no doubt expecting that his father would be called to King's Landing to replace the recently deceased Hand of the King. She loathed the idea of Ned leaving his family behind.

Other than the Lannisters (the family of the king's wife), another attendee was noted. Written very specifically as the soon-to-be wife of Robb Stark. The arrangement had been unexpected, to say the least. Unwanted, was a better word for it, though Robb could not deny the king — and it was Robert Baratheon who had decided upon the match, not his mother nor his father.

So, a day after the royal family arrived, the Starks and Baratheons stood in the Godswood, awaiting the Young Wolf's bride.
