Kaz Brekker, Jesper Fahey, and Inej had a plan: they had to kidnap the Sun Summoner for 1 million kruge. It was a lot, but to find her, they had to cross the Fold.

Only one person could help, and Inej had almost killed him. Arken was the one who could help them get to the other side. He had helped many others cross the Fold before. In the end, they finally succeeded, but not before being attacked by the Volkra. Jesper killed them with his pistol.

Once they crossed to the other side, they now had to find the Little Palace with Arken to find the Sun Summoner that was there with the Darkling. They also had to hide sometimes so no one would recognize them.

But Kaz had another plan. Someone else could help them get to the Little Palace. As the four of them walked down an alley, Jesper couldn't help but ask:

"Boss, quick question, who is that person you're talking about? And are they truly trustworthy?"

Jesper asked, following Kaz, who was holding his cane and limping with his left leg, a trauma he'd had since he was a young boy. Kaz didn't even look at him, his expression as stoic as ever.

"My wife lives there, she's very trustworthy."

Kaz said, offering no further explanation, but Inej and Jesper exchanged a look. They never knew Kaz had a wife. They didn't know you. Arken wasn't shocked because they didn't know Kaz, Jesper, or Inej.
