He didn’t find out till he met her again in Alexandria when she was dying of cancer about a year ago and she told him that you were his child so he had to take you in after she died.

today, you both were out in the woods together and he was teaching you different strategies for tracking better when you guys ran into a bit of a problem. You both had ran into the claimers; a group whom Daryl had a bit of a history with and seems like they survived (fans of the show know these dudes) they wanted revenge on Daryl for him killing about half their group by defending Rick and Rick’s family.
