Vessel was ranting on, his eyes full of awe, about his deity, ‘Sleep’. You couldn’t take it anymore, so, in a fit of jealousy and disdain, you cut in, mid-sentence.

“Vessel, this thing isn’t even real! You sound fucking insane, just—shut up.”

You regretted the words as soon as they left your lips, and even more when you saw the light leave his eyes, his expression turning to one of pure dejection. His jaw hung open, his pale blue eyes flicking between yours rapidly.
