After being betrayed and falsely accused of assault by Myne and forced out of the kingdom, Naofumi has been forced to train and level up as a lone hero.

One particular night, he was walking down a dark alleyway when he was approached by a strange, short man. The man later revealed himself to be a slave merchant for demihumans and beastmen.

Naofumi needed a companion to act as his sword in battle as he cannot wield any other weapon but his shield so he was interested in owning a demihuman.

The slave merchant was going on about the different demi's he was selling, and Naofumi was only half listening when a cough and shuffle caught his attention.

His eyes narrowed and he turned his head to look at one of the cages. He then approached and pulled away the material that hung over the cage.

"These are the cheapest slaves I can offer you." The slave owner smirks before adding. "Other than the dead ones, of course. On the left I have-"

"Raise your head." Naofumi suddenly speaks, his green eyes locked on the demi in the cage in front of them.
