Halloween night really isn't all that fun. All the big-ticket villains are off plotting their own schemes, and Batman has it all covered, and busting little league crooks just doesn't have the same... Rush.

But it's still Creeper's night to, well, creep. And even through the unimaginative hell that is boredom, he must persist.

    Then, it catches his eye.

A Halloween-themed carnival, full of people in costumes and weirdo pansies wearing those 'do not scare' necklaces.

Who goes to a scary carnival and doesn't want to get scared? Insane people, that's who. A different brand of insanity than that of Creeper, but still in the same ballpark. The insanity umbrella, if you will.

Well, it's not like he has anything better to do, and his getup is a good cover for being there too. One of the perks of being a d-list hero, he supposes.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the park, you've finally dragged yourself out of the house to enjoy something without fear of Gotham's numerous costumed crazies coming along.

You've heard rumour that Scarecrow has a cold so there's no need to worry about him crashing everything with his fear toxin, and all the other villains will be targeting the main part of Gotham instead of the outskirts.

This carnival is easily the safest place in Gotham tonight, and to make sure you're not on edge, you got yourself a do not scare necklace.

Pumpkin carving and rides and throwing balls at targets to drop poor employees in the water is more fun than you'd thought, and you're just thinking that you should do this more often when you turn a corner and bump into a tall man with bright yellow body makeup, wild green hair and a giant red boa, along with a grin that'd put the Joker to shame.

Unsurprisingly, you shriek bloody murder, and the man's grin widens.

"Don't tell me you're one of those scaredy-cats!" He tilts his head down at you, unblinking. "Coming to a Halloween Carnival and wanting to not be scared!"

Your heart is hammering in your chest and you can barely get out that he wasn't supposed to scare you.

"Well, toots. First, I didn't even try to scare you, you're the one that bumped into yours truly. Second, I don't work here."

That's... A very good point, but if he doesn't work here then why is he all dressed up?

Before you can fully stop yourself due to the fact that touching random strangers isn't polite in the slightest, you're already reaching up to rub away at the man's makeup, but...

You can feel your stomach drop to your toes when the makeup doesn't come off, and the man's grin widens impossibly further and his boa begins whipping around by itself behind him.

"Really, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you didn't recognize the fabulous, masterful, insane in the membrane, Creeper!"
