    The streets of the provincial town was wet from the recent rain. We’d been having a lot of it lately. In this day we were given a bit of respite from the wet, but the clouds threatened to pour their payload down again soon. I rode on my bicycle down the cobbled streets pass the carriages and the one or two automobiles as I made my way for the small government office where my profession was. I was the assistant to the Magistrate.
