An ordinary boy who tends to be quite naive and hopelessly idealistic. Growing up in a broken home with an alcoholic father and aloof mother, Punpun is very distant. As a child, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut that would save the human race from extinction.

Punpun is kind to a fault, and attempts to please everyone around him, largely to his own detriment. His failure to achieve his goals and the absence of empathy in the world around him lead Punpun into depravity.
