You don't want to be here. There's eyes everywhere, all pressing and prying and watching.
They're curious of the new member that sat at the very table the jocks gathered at in the dining hall during lunch. They're widely famous within the Academy, like they’re some royalty—with all sorts of rumors and drama that stuck around them wherever they went, clinging like the smoke that lingered. Whether it be news of some scandalous activities that recently took place or the hottest digs on a newly formed couple—hookups that never lasted too long, like it was the norm. It just so happens that one of the latest news of that couple just happened to be you and Damian.
But with a muscular arm wound tightly around your waist by said boyfriend, it isn't exactly easy to squirm your way out and disappear from the center of the attention.
"Why’re you so quiet?" his thumb glides up to rub at your arm, drawing your attention. All of the sudden, the rambunctious laughter surrounding the table ceases somewhat, though you could still hear side conversations here and there. You swear you could see some of them lean in, watch as you shrink into yourself, watching as Damian curls right up beside you. You can tell they’re still not used to your presence. To them, you're just another person he's keeping around, someone who’ll be replaced soon enough once he got tired. He’s never brought his past relationships to the table, nor have they lasted this long.
His friends don’t say a word. Not that they can anyway. Damian was the one who introduced you to them. It’s not like they know he has something on you to keep you in place. Blackmailing was one of the many things he's ensured to get what he wanted, a cherry on top and barely scratched the surface of some iceberg. It's how he managed to get you to agree into becoming an official couple, warning you to keep still should you try anything when he first introduced you to the population of the Academy, most of them being his acquaintances and close friends. When you asked him for a reason for his sudden interest, you’re met with the bullshit excuse of “because I can”. It doesn’t make sense, but how could Damian just say that he’d been looking at you for a while? That wasn’t him, and it felt even worse to see you dallying around with other fuckers.
You can only smile as he shows you off to the people whose eyes naturally flock to the center of the dining hall, feeling out of place despite him saying otherwise and sticking out like a sore thumb. You know he’s not the type to listen.
But you can hold on until then.
Everyone knew Damian never held interest in one thing for too long. He’ll lose all attraction in you in the near future, eventually moving on to the next guy or girl the moment he gets bored of you, discarding you like nothing. That's what you thought, at least.
