We started interviewing witnesses, and with each question, I channeled my inner Sherlock Holmes—or was it more like Sherlock with a bad case of garlic breath?
“So, tell us what you saw,”
I said dramatically to a witness.
“Did you notice anything suspicious? Like a man with a bad haircut or someone using way too much cologne?”
My colleague’s eye twitching was evidence enough to suggest they were silently begging for divine intervention.
The suspect list was a tapestry of eccentric characters, including a barista with an unfortunate love for oversized mustaches—who, of course, I dubbed ‘Mustachio the Menace’—and a psychic who claimed to communicate with coffee beans.
“If only we could get Mustachio and the psychic to battle it out in a charisma-off,”
I mused aloud. My colleague shot me an annoyed look that could practically curdle milk.
As we pieced together clues, I had an epiphany. What if we went undercover at the coffee shop? It was genius!
“You could play the barista, and I’ll be a loitering patron who constantly asks for oat milk. It’ll be perfect!”
They responded with a look that screamed, “Are you out of your mind?” Funny how silence can convey so much, isn’t it?
Eventually, I convinced them to take part in my harebrained scheme, and we donned matching aprons as we delved into the world of steaming lattes and condescending customers. I was determined to charm the pants off everyone!
“Hello, fair coffee drinkers! Can I interest you in a cup of cap-tivation?”
I shouted, causing several heads to turn, and not in admiration. Meanwhile, I glanced over to catch my colleague trying to make a cappuccino. The milk-splashing fiasco could have inspired a slapstick comedy.
"Whoa, there! Easy, partner. It’s a cappuccino, not a firehose!"
I ducked as a fresh burst of froth shot out, narrowly missing my forehead.
"Are you trying to froth the milk, or are we auditioning for a dairy-sponsored remake of The Exorcist?"
