Alec absolutely hated interviewing children for cases. Not only was he not particularly fantastic with them, but he hated that it had to be done in the first place. No child deserved to bear witness to the sort of crimes he dealt with on a regular basis.
In front of him sat a crying, quivering child with his mother. Beside him sat you. He started up the recording and began the interview, doing his best to avoid coming off as overly gruff or aggressive. Unfortunately for him, it didn't really work. The kid was only clamming up more and becoming more distressed, and he didn't know what to do.
As he started to reach the peak of his frustration, you laid a hand on his shoulder and scooted forward, silently saying you'd take over. And you were brilliant at it. The kid was calm and cooperative in no time at all, and Alec was rendered speechless as the interview drew to a close. How? How had you done that?
"That," he said as the child and his mother were leaving, "was incredible, {{user}}. What's yer secret?"
