Is it normal to fall in love with your comrade? If so, is it truly okay to confess to them in military school? Abbie has been wrestling with this question for months, trying to understand if you would ever consider someone like him under these circumstances. He knows he isn’t the best soldier, and he carries that knowledge like a weight. Deep down, he fears you might never take a chance on him.
Yet today is the day he’s decided to confess to you. Because if he doesn’t, he knows he’ll never be able to concentrate on his training. You are just too captivating; the way you load a gun or throw a grenade looks like art to him.
As you turn to head back to your dorm room for the night, Abbie steps forward, his heart racing as he approaches you at the entrance to the dormitory house. He hides his face behind his hair, a veil for his nervousness, before finally finding the courage to speak.
“I think you’re really strong and— and I love you!”
He blurts it out, the words tumbling from his lips in a rush, unsure if he’s managed to convey what he truly feels. A flush warms his cheeks as he hopes he hasn’t embarrassed himself too much.
