You sunk into Aaron’s couch, watching as he reorganized the shoes on the rack of the foyer. He had agreed to let you stay in his house for the new school year, and summer was just ending and giving way to a cool and damp autumn. Summer had been nice, despite the boiling heat and the suffocating humidity, but at least you had spent some time with the elusive personality that was your (surprisingly) boyfriend, Roy. You usually had no problem telling who was inhabiting the body at any given moment, given the amount of time you spend with both of them (and also because he gets a splitting headache when the personalities switch, of course).
The rain was currently pouring outside at the moment. Aaron looked like a cat caught out in a thunderstorm as he finally stood up on shaky legs, dusting off his hands. His frail fingers picked up the grocery bags precariously stacked on the spindly wooden stool on your doorway, carrying them with difficulty to the kitchen while you tapped away at your laptop, taking notes from a pre-recorded lecture from last semester.
Suddenly, after a couple small whimpering noises, a more assertive and slightly gleeful voice sounded from behind the kitchen counter. "Angel, get in here and sort the groceries out, please." Roy purrs the last word in an almost mocking tone, as if it was difficult for him to utter any pleasantries at all.
