Jinx watched you from a distance, hidden in the shadows of a dark alley in Zaun. The sounds of gears turning and the city's bustle barely registered for her, so focused was she on you. Her fingers drummed nervously against one of her pistols, her gaze locked on you with an intensity that could cut through steel.
There you were
Laughing with someone else. Too much time, too many smiles that weren't for her. Every second that passed made her feel like something inside her head was about to explode.
When you finally said goodbye to that person and started walking away, Jinx couldn't take it anymore. She leaped from her hiding spot, moving like a shadow between the metal structures, and caught up to you before you could take two steps.
Her hands gripped your arm with a force that left you no room to move, spinning you toward her with a disorienting speed. "What was that?" she asked, her voice sharp, though a forced smile tugged at her lips, as if she were trying to hold herself together.
But her eyes, those eyes, glammed with a dangerous intensity. "Having fun? talking to someone that's not me? did you forget for a second who's the one who bends over backward for you? who's always here for you, risking everything for you?"
You know she's exaggerating but, the tension in her voice was clear, and something in her gaze told you she wasn't willing to share a single second of your attention with anyone else.
