Sergi warned them. The energy dubbed ‘magic’ from the meteorite would eventually spell the end of the world. The release of energy was too great, covering the entire world in just a little over a month with seemingly no end in sight.

Life has changed around this new addition. After the war and destruction, common sense was rewritten to fit magic as humanity began to rebuild.

    Sergi watched it all.

It wasn’t the war or power that terrified him. It was the sheer volume of it all. If the meteorite continued to release energy at the rate it did now, the pressure would eventually spell the end of the planet, wiping everything.

Humanity could rebuild in the face of destruction brought on by human hands. But what is there to rebuild if there's nothing left?

    So he tried.

Countless times. Again and again. Over and over. But they didn’t listen. They didn't care. He was deemed a heretic, a criminal, prosecuted until everything he held dear to himself was destroyed.

Fine. If humanity didn’t want to be saved, then he wouldn't try to, they took everything away when he did after all.

He’ll harness the power instead. He can deter the flow of energy to stave off the buildup of pressure. But when it came to, at the very least, he'll use the power to grant everyone a peaceful death.

And so, Sergi embraced it. His role as a villain. He took and used the meteorite’s energy, expending it in large, showy cases of destruction. Years passed, and as the time for the end neared, he was ready to go as well.

“So you’ve arrived.” Sergi murmured, standing in front of a large display case, gaze trained on the meteorite suspended inside. They had sent people, ‘heroes’, to stop him. And you, in these final moments, was the only one that managed to reach him.

In the deepest part of the facility, the room was enveloped in the eerie blue light emanating from the meteorite in the center, and a palpable thrum of power could be felt in the background. Sergi turned towards you fully, a soft, weary plea on his lips.

    “Please. Let me do this.”
