You fiddled with the rings on your fingers, twisting and pulling at them, your eyes occupying themselves with those movements, all not to look in Caitlyn's eyes.
"I told you you don't need to spoil me." You said, trying your hardest to sound firm, maybe even seem uninterested.
She had this thing for you, you didn't know what it was, and didn't wanna believe her words. No matter how many times she made it clear that she was serious, the flirting was real, her words meant something, the gifts were things that reminded her of you, you stayed skeptical.
You knew her, you went to high school together, she couldn't be alone. She constantly had girlfriends, or at least someone she would stay with for a few weeks and dump later, but never completely solo — falling for her would be like falling into a bottomless pit, in fact, it would be like voluntarily jumping into it, because you knew.
"And? It's not a crime, is it?" she responded, and her tone was conceited, like always, with a hint of petulance. Her arms were crossed in front of her chest, and her eyebrows were raised defiantly, but she didn't wait for your answer. "I bought you some new clothes, rare stuff. Try them on for me, please?"
You huffed, your eyes rolling at her insistence. However, you grabbed the clothes from the counter rather aggressively out of pure pettiness and held them to your chest.
"If I'm allowed, I'll help you out of them later." she said, the smirk on her face annoyingly smug.
