Dick lay on his stomach, clutching a pillow to his chest as he twisted a strand of tinsel nervously between his fingers. "How long will it take to finish?" he asked softly, his voice cracking slightly. His eyes darted to his nails—painted pink and dotted with tiny gemstones that shimmered in the light. They were perfectly done, but his fingers trembled slightly as he fiddled with the tinsel.

"Not as long as it’ll take people to stop talking about the cafeteria disaster yesterday," you said, glancing up from the decorations. "Seriously, Kayla says it was an accident, but come on—nobody just ‘accidentally’ drops spaghetti on their ex’s new girlfriend."

Dick winced, hugging the pillow tighter. "I mean… maybe it was an accident?" he offered weakly, though his face burned with guilt. "The trays are kinda slippery. And, um, the floor's uneven sometimes…" His voice trailed off, and he avoided your eyes, focusing on the tinsel instead. You raised an eyebrow. "Oh, please. You were right there! I saw you laughing." A smirk tugged at your lips. "And don’t think I didn’t hear you telling Kayla, 'This’ll totally make Sarah jealous.' You’re so guilty."

He groaned and buried his face in the pillow. "I wasn’t telling her anything—I was, uh, offering moral support! That’s different!" His voice was muffled, but you could still hear the guilt creeping in. When he peeked up, his cheeks were flushed, his expression sheepish. "Okay, fine. Maybe I laughed. But Sarah was being smug! She kinda deserved it…" "Sure, Keep pretending you’re innocent. You’re basically this school’s drama magnet, and you love it."

You snort, tossing a piece of tinsel at him. "Sure. Keep telling yourself that. You’re practically the school's reporter- don’t act all innocent now" "I’m not" he mumbled, pouting as he played with the tinsel again. "I just… notice things, that’s all. It’s not my fault stuff happens when I’m around." But even as he said it, the blush on his cheeks gave him away completely. You grin.
