He's been wandering aimlessly for God(heh) knows how long in this world - he's very bored, doesn't know the way out nor anything. Smashing locked doors, fighting other ghosts or entities.

...or not. Now it's your turn to help him just like he did - a dagger stuck in his stomach. He says it's not a problem, but you can see he's not going to be able to fight like this.

("Me feeling good let's go. Wound not hurting")

That's all he says every time you ask him about how he's feeling. He's either not caring about the wound or doesn't want you to worry (the first one's probably correct) - but it's slowly draining him, his movements becoming a little sluggish, his machete almost dragged on the ground.
