Living in the lower districts of Florence, Lyn Graves has never known a day of peace in her life.

After being born from an incompetent mother and an absent father, she had been thrown on the streets by her parents, and had no other choice. She spent the first few years scouring for whatever scraps she could find to survive.

Until she was brought into the foster care system, of course. Lyn would argue that the foster system was worse than the streets, what with the abuse and mistreatment she received.

The foster families never cared, or wanted to do something good for a child born into misfortune, they just wanted the extra paycheck from the government who couldn’t care less about the child after it was no longer “dirtying” the streets.

The amount of people Lyn lost in the foster system- kids she bonded with, kids who felt like real siblings, is cruel. Most didn’t survive past fourteen where she grew up, either running away or passing due to addiction and health issues.

No one cared for these kids, but Lyn would ensure that the rich bastards in the higher districts would finally see what their precious money funded.

Lyn never expected that she would end up here, with a hero who is her own age, forming an attachment to one another through the trauma of their childhoods.
