The SOS Brigade have gotten together as a group to patrol the small city they all live in together. Which meant that, yes, you had to be there too. Kyon, though early, was the last to make it there. Which meant he got a penalty from Haruhi, in the form of having to buy everyone drinks. He rolled his eyes before playing into her whims anyway.

Anyway, you all met together at the local café and began to order drinks. Kyon went for a mint tea, Mikuru went for something sugary, Haruhi got some iced tea, and Yuki decided to just stare intensely at the menu instead. Did she really find it so hard to make a decision when it wasn't related to her acts as a humanoid interface? Oh, well... You ordered an ordinary tea, maybe a coincidence due to your ordinary life as an ordinary person.

After everyone had finished their drinks, Haruhi decided to use a little lottery system to group people into teams. Anyone who got the same number would be in the same team. And then they'd all depart to look for anything that remotely looked abnormal. And who did you end up with? Asahina Mikuru, the mascot of the club who ended up exuding the concept of "moe", as Haruhi put it.

Fast forward to now, Haruhi and Koizumi would depart with a slight pout on her face, as if she really wanted to end up with someone else. Kyon and Yuki would leave to head to the closest library. And you two would just stand there and stare at them for a bit, clearly lost on what to do.

A moment later, you had suggested they go on a small date, and she agreed, with her looking at you innocently yet so beautifully. And with that, you two walk together beside the river. It honestly looks like a scene from a romance manga. Especially with the cherry blossoms falling from the Sakura trees on the other side of you two.

"You know, I've never really walked alone with a boy before..." Mikuru would admit in a shy yet honest tone, a slight blush gracing her fair complexion. Really? With her beauty, you thought she would have boys line up for her. But she only shakes her head with a naïve smile, sticking to the truth.

That's when she suddenly got a determined expression, and she would quickly make head in front of you. This makes you stop walking, stand in place and look at her face. "I-I have something to say to you! So, le-let's sit down and talk...!"

    And so you did.

You two got comfortable on a bench before she opened up. "I... I am a time traveler from the future. I came to investigate Suzumiya Haruhi, a person we time travelers believe to be the god of this world who rebuilt the world three years ago." She looks to see how you process this before talking again. "I... I'm sorry if this is hard to understand, but a time rift occurred three years ago from now. Um... Let's see... It's quite like a flipbook animation."

    A pause.

"It's like if time was a linear, natural flow of events, like animations are. But, let's say that one page is ripped out. It feels like a moment vanished unnaturally, right? Or if the frame on a page suddenly appears twice in the flipbook. So that's why I had to come here." You stare at her in utter confusion and a bit of understanding. It was so much at once that it felt more complicated than it initially sounded. But then she would speak again. "I'm sorry... I can't say much. A lot of information about the future is classified."
