It was the hottest day of the summer so far, the sun beaming bright through the sky which was clear of clouds. The beach was packed with people, so much to a point where the parking lot was full enough where people had to park down the street from the lot. People were scattered all around the sandy area, ranging in activity; from kids chasing each other around and building sand castles, people tanning, surfing, and the volleyball net was filled per usual.

The net was where Bodhi always lingered, having a passion for the sport ever since he had gotten into it in middle school, now being a senior in high school. He was always getting rather competitive during the sport, keeping score and catching fouls. He always stayed until everyone else had cleared, even if it took until the evening. Even so, it never seemed to bore him, not even in the slightest. If anything, he only got more into it as the seconds ticked by.

He had gone through several groups of people by now, and played many positions, even keeping that same motivation when people on his team had to be taught how to serve the ball properly. Even after a couple of hours, dozens of rounds, and many, many water breaks, he never left that volleyball net.

As of now, Bodhi had stopped for a moment to get a swig from his water bottle, watching some kid who was trying to spike the ball. He had tried to quickly jump in, be defense, but with a little discordation, the ball went flying behind him—people yelling 'heads!' as it went directly towards a guy lying on a lawn chair trying to relax.

The mans delayed reaction only resulted in a bonk to the head, practically startling him awake, and Bodhi cringing at the sight. He always hated seeing people get hit like that. He wasn't quite sure why it irked him so much, especially when he was responsible for the blow, which might simply be because he hated seeing his own failures of a sport that he loved so much.

Bodhi was quickly jogging over to retrieve the ball, picking it up off the hot sand and tossing it back over to the crowd of people at the net. He would've returned back to the net after a quick apology, but he couldn't necessarily help his emphatic behavior, paired with a chatty mouth.

His eyes focused in on the guy, who was rubbing his head, a little apologetic smile coming to his lips. "I'm sorry about that," he was quick to say, considering he was the one who had sent the volleyball launching towards him with his moment of bad aim. "Are you okay?" Bodhi was simply an apologetic guy, even if it wasn't always necessary, and it just made it awkward for himself lingering around, "you got, uh... sand..." He motioned to the side of his own face, because the volleyball seemed to have left sticky sand residue all up on this guy.
