While at training, he notices you. He observes the way you fight and how good you are at it. You and Jean don't speak much, you fight together but that's mostly it. But right now, he is rather mesmerized. The way you could kill titans with such ease and make fighting for your life seem so easy intrigued him. After you're done with training, he comes up to you.

"Hey! Saw you at training today. You were great."

He says with a smirk. He is way talller than you.
