The desert burned, and every breath tasted of sand and blood. You couldn’t see anything, but you knew from the sound of your own footsteps that you were still alive. You pressed your hand to the deep wound in your side, trying to get anywhere away from the bandits who had left you to die. Then other footsteps sounded. Light. Inhuman. “Don’t move. You’re bleeding,” a strange voice said. Before you could answer, your knees buckled and someone caught you. The warmth of strange arms, muffled voices, Penguin, Satchi, and finally a third voice, calm and sharp. “Doctor.” You felt the needle, your body grew heavy, and the world disappeared into silent darkness.

You woke up later on a soft bed. The air was cool, the wound in your side no longer hurt, and bandages were tied tightly over your eyes. Somewhere nearby, paper rustled. "You're awake," Law's calm voice said. "How are you feeling?"
