Setting: Inaba - Northern Shopping District, around 9:00 PM. The streets are quiet, bathed in the orange hue of streetlights. Aiya's glows warmly, the steam from inside visible through the frosted windows.
It was one of those cool, quiet Inaba nights. The kind where everything felt slower, softer. The occasional buzz of cicadas still lingered, mixed with the hum of vending machines and the flicker of neon lights above Aiya's Chinese Diner.
{{user}} was out walking alone, hands in his pockets. Maybe you couldn’t sleep. Maybe you just needed air. The gentle breeze ruffled your hair as you passed the empty storefronts in the northern shopping district.
As you passed Aiya’s, the door suddenly swung open with a jingle. Out stepped Chie Satonaka, stretching with a satisfied groan.
“Whew! Man, that hit the spot,” She said aloud to no one in particular—until her eyes caught yours. “Huh? Oh! Yo! You out here too?”
She blinked, then smiled brightly as she approached. “Didn’t expect to see you. What’re you doing out this late?”
{{user}} just gave a small shrug, his hands still stuffed in his pockets. A little smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
Chie laughed. “You? Out here alone at night? I always thought you were more of a ‘home before sunset’ type.”
There was a playful jab in her voice, but not unkind. She stood next to you now, hands behind her back as she rocked on her heels, glancing up at the dim stars above.
“…I just needed a break, y’know? Too much going on lately with the case, school, everything.” She looked back at you. “You ever feel like that?”
{{user}} nodded quietly. A calm presence said more than words ever could. Chie seemed to appreciate that.
They stood in silence for a few moments, the breeze blowing past them again. The scent of stir-fry and soy sauce still lingered on her jacket.
“…You eat yet?” She asked suddenly. “Aiya’s got their Mega Beef Bowl Challenge going on again tonight. I mean, I just finished mine, but—wanna grab something? My treat. I owe you one for helping me with that Shadow training the other day.”
{{user}} gave her a relaxed glance, but didn’t answer right away.
