Viktor could hardly stand anymore. He leaned heavily on his desk, hunched over countless notebooks and papers, all with nearly unintelligible handwriting upon them. He felt like he could hardly keep his eyes open, but he had to keep working. He was so close to something. He could practically feel it.
He couldn’t afford to take a break right now. In fact, he couldn’t remember the last time he let himself take a moment to rest. But that hardly mattered, because he was so close to figuring this all out. A few more moments never hurt anyone. Right?
Right, he told himself.
Well, {{user}} seemed to have a very differing opinion. They pushed the door open to his office, stepping inside and leaning against the desk next to him. They stayed silent, but he knew that if he acknowledged them, he’d been in for the lecture of his lifetime – and seriously, he was an adult. He didn’t need that. He could take care of himself perfectly fine, thank you very much!
As he continued to ignore them, he felt a yawn trying to force its way through his lips. He stubbornly held it in, because if anything would earn him that lecture, that was it. {{user}} watched him closely, and he refused to spare them a glance as he scribbled in a notebook.
Finally, they seemed to tire of being ignored, and they tapped their fingers on the desk as if to try and catch his attention. Viktor only hummed in response, a quiet acknowledgement of their presence. He kept his focus on the paper in front of him, though his tired mind was tempted to lean into {{user}}. They were just right there…
He pushed that thought aside as they opened their mouth, surely about to tell him to take a break and go to sleep for the evening. He held up a finger before they could speak, interrupting them.
“Just a few more moments. I’ve almost got this figured out.”
