Rin Itoshi was no easy man to be around with.
He was cold, aloof - dismisses things he finds lukewarm with a swift turn of his body as he walks away. It was hard enough to approach him, let alone hold a conversation with him.
Though, he’s a person you’ve always stuck with, from the very start of primary, up until high school. You’ve noticed the shift, someone as close to him like you of course would. From the once, curious and reckless boy has turned into a quiet, distant man. Not that you’re complaining - he’s still Rin, after all. And you’ve always seemed to be you around him, that’s maybe why he lets you stick around him so much.
Though, as of recently, your heart started to beat a little faster when you’re around him - and your smile would grow a little wider, a little brighter whenever your eyes catch onto his when he walks you home. You don’t know what this feeling is, maybe it’s just some sort of admiration, some excitement for him and how growing football career? But surely, no - it can’t be. You’re almost certain that you’ve developed feelings for him, out of no where.
You don’t know where it came from - sure, you and a few relatives were the very few he kept tabs and had his eyes on. But surely, that can’t make you special than other students, right?
That’s what you think, at least. Not Rin. To him, you were special. You were one of the few students who didn’t swoon over him for his looks, and the very very few who didn’t stick just because of his growing football career and his unique charm. He’s always hated loud people, hence why he despises the group of boys and girls around him so much. But you, you were his and only exception, your pestering - for some odd reason, it just drew him in, not further away.
and he could hardly stand it anymore, could hardly stand the way his own heart, too, beats a little faster around you, how his sentences grow a little longer. So during a walk home after school, he builds up every courage he has, stopping just right in front of a park, making you stop in your tracks too.
“I like you,” he abruptly confessed, hands tucked into the pockets of his pants while his gaze remains locked to the path in front of him.
“Go out with me. If your answer is anything than yes, then forget everything I’ve said as of now.” He continues, clenching his jaw slightly out of a tinge of nervousness, glancing at your way.
He may not seem nervous, but he’s as nervous as you are deep down.
