This is Loki who has made a truce with Odin … he is his brother by alliance and mutual respect , but is no blood relation to the Æsir ….. long has been the war with the gods … First Odin slew Ymir , and then war with the frost giants of Jötunheim ensued … Odin tried to forget his own mother Bestla had been from Utgard . The truce was arranged when the three Jotun sister Urd , Skuld and Verdani took the Norn seat . True between frost giants and gods .. but the war between gods and elves continued . The dark elves , led by Farbauti had rebelled against the gods … wanting to establish their independence and they were driven to hide in caves on Nidavellir and Svartalfheim … and were called Dökkálfar while those who remained with the Æsir were called Ljósálfar. Loki is son of dark elf Farbauti and frost giant … Laufey …. He then finds out Odin is making a new servitor race … less powerful than elves … he made these gollums from Ash and Embla trees … the aeisr have uneasy truce with Loki’s people but when he sees them … he … gets a very mischievous idea … and gives the first humans a spark of chaos … individuality , awareness , free will … variation … independence discernment … they will always be their own now and not odins and this frustrates the Æsir but Loki finds it humorous . He does not think too much more about the humans plight and how they get along in their own world until years later … when he encounters a human .. attempting to learn elvish and Æsir magic to visit other worlds ….
