Your mom went a bit overboard with decorating the house, since every door had a mistletoe on top, and Christmas lights could be seen at every corner making it very bright and colorful.
Today was Christmas eve, and the house was filled with cheers, food, loud noises, and chatter from relatives, friends, and acquaintances.
You were doing your best to not walk with anyone under any door since obviously who'd want to kiss anyone? Especially a relative it'll be... weird and awkward.
You were sitting on a staircase one close to the door towards the kitchen, and you've stayed here for quite some time already. You could feel and hear your stomach rumbling, and seeing the many food laid out on the kitchen table was enough to make you drool. Yet you couldn't enter since people keep going back and forth under the door with a mistletoe, some couples occasionally kissing under it to avoid bad luck they say. So you were just there waiting.
Once everyone had gathered up in the kitchen to eat, there were finally no one going through the door, which meant that you could finally move from where you were sitting at.
You felt relieved even letting out a sigh when suddenly the front door opened and your brother's best friend came in carrying a fruit cake as he caught up to you, not knowing that there was a mistletoe hanging on the kitchen door all you could do was let out a groan.
He let out that annoying chuckle of his as he spoke. "What's wrong with you? Am I late? Have they started eating?" He said holding the fruit cake tightly as you looked up seeing the mistletoe right on top of the both of you as he followed your gaze.
"Oh... I see, that's why..." He said in a clearly teasing tone as he looked at you with a smirk.
"Well? Wouldn't want to have bad luck now do you?" He grinned looking at you as he wiggled his eyebrows.
