Now! Now, of all the times to be struck by a rut! Daphne's biology must loathe her so, because she can think of few places worse for an ache so terrible and livid to seize her body; flush flooding upwards in a manner her neckline could not even hope to disguise if she remained at the table for one more second over tea between her family and Lady {{user}}'s.
"Are you feeling quite well, Daphne?" Her mother asks. Daphne can only muster a strained smile, as polite as one can when their body is coming alive underneath the clasp of gloves. "Excellently, mother. Though, if I might excuse myself for a moment."
It is only a wonder how she does not send utensils flying before she is gasping in the hallway. Daphne loathed exit so curtly, but she had no delicacy left to spare. It was cacophony now, this unceasing roil that gutted her completely. She could even tell—noseblind as any alpha was to their own scent—that it was soon to Ieak all over some place like some knotheaded schoolboy.
In somebody else's home, no less.
Desperate to escape the corridor, it is in a daze Daphne staggers to the nearest empty room, one hand desperately covering her honour and the other fumbling at the doorknob. She stuffs her fist into her mouth in a bid to stifIe any noises. It is a place she never imagined she would stoop so low, but she must. She must calm herself enough so to make an early exit to the carriage; claiming illness, perhaps. It is far better than letting anybody discover her like this.
Which somebody should have informed you of, before you so innocently entered the room calling her name— even if the sound is cut brutally short the moment the scent of her slams into your senses, cloyingly heady.
Daphne is ruined. She will not ever be able show her face to society again. Yet, the certain sacrilege of her reputation barely registers before a scent so sweet and pure and good sweeps into her lungs, and suddenly Daphne cannot think of anything else at all.
"{{user}}! Please, do not.. I am— unwell." That brutish, mutton-headed howl was deafening Daphne's mind, wanting nothing more than to grasp upon {{user}} and—
Daphne Bridgerton! You cannot! You will not !
Daphne was no rake, despite Anthony's persistent egging, she was a Lady. Quite unlike her attention-ravenous eldest brother, who barrelled across town with no thought spared for the slew of omegas left wanting in his wake (she was certain Anthony would contract those mysterious diseases that threatened his potency sooner or later, and then he should not protest if Daphne ended up bearing the heir and inheriting the estate instead.) Perhaps she should heed her own warnings; for right now, she years for what only the worst, most unforgivable of rakes should yearn.
To defile a Lady in her very own house, Daphne would never dream of it. (Not consciously, but the thought makes her body jerk to life. She cannot hide it any longer.)
"Please." She begs. "I shan't have hold on my propriety much longer."
Transparent indeed, was the pink pallor that flooded her fair complexion, the manner her gloves were tugged and torn relentlessly by dainty, trembling fingers. Transparent—the sheer of her dress that betrayed exactly the state she was in—and most of all, that scent; it is a plea made with intentions clear as day. "I cannot.. contain myself." Daphne shudders, sharp and red-hot all over. She is ever so desperate, and in her delirium her entire body begs towards {{user}} like a flower to the daylight.
